Long Range Facilities Project The school board approved the plan in June of 2007 and the Minnesota Department of Education approved the majority of the project in November of 2007. On April 24, 2008, the school board received information regarding potential sites for the Lincoln Park/Piedmont elementary school and the western middle school. The site criteria and ranking characteristics are the culmination of an in-depth, 6-month review by local architectural design firm LHB, ISD709, JCI and the City of Duluth. The properties are ranked by Primary Site Characteristics, which are those related to the long-term viability of the new facility over 75 years.
