**Options for completing Word, PowerPoint, and/or Publisher requirements:
Ø Take one or more of these courses through the District's Teacher Development department. Each course has been approved for .5 in-service credits.
Ø Take one or more of these courses through the Technology Department during the day (only available as grant funding allows).
- Digital Storytelling with Windows MovieMaker (Basic or Advanced)
**Options for completing Digital Storytelling with Windows MovieMaker (Basic):
Ø Take this course through the District's Teacher Development department.It has been approved for 1.0 in-service credit.
Ø Take this course through the Technology Department during the day (only available as grant funding allows).
Ø This should be one of the last courses a teacher takes. It requires basic knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Ø If you take the basic class first, you may use the advanced class as an elective.
Electives:
In addition to the four (4) required core courses, 15 additional hours from the electives listed below are required for PowerUser Certification. Most courses are offered through Teacher Development via News and Views based upon instructor availability and participant interest.
- AutoCAD 2008, Architecture 2008, Civil 3D 2008, MEP 2008, Autodesk Inventor and Backburner, and Revit Architecture
- Five (5) hours will be credited to Project Lead the Way instructors who complete this week-long training.
- Computer Survival Skills
- If this course is elected, it is strongly suggested that it be taken prior to any other courses. This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). It is also available through Technology during the day dependent upon grant funding.
- Computing and Technology Certificate
- Five (5) hours will be credited to teachers who complete this certification.
- Digital Storytelling with Windows MovieMaker (advanced)
- Please see course descriptions provided in News and Views. The advanced class can be used as an elective only if you take the basic class first as a core/required class (see above).
- Gaggle Student Email in the Classroom
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours).
- Kidspiration / Inspiration
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). It is also available through Technology during the day dependent upon grant funding.
- Internet Safety
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits. (5 hours).
- Microsoft Access
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). Pre-requisites may apply
- Microsoft Excel 2007
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours).
- Microsoft Excel 2007 Advanced
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). Pre-requisites may apply
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 II
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). The first half of the course focuses on the advanced PowerPoint topics; the second half focuses on its use in the classroom. Pre-requisites may apply
- Microsoft Word 2007 II
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). The first half of the course focuses on advanced Word topics; the second half focuses on its use in the classroom. Pre-requisites may apply
- Microsoft Word 2007 III
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). The first half of the course focuses on "beyond advanced" Word topics; the second half focuses on its use in the classroom. Course offering may be limited. Pre-requisites may apply.
- Sibelius, SmartMusic, or Music Ace Maestro
- Five (5) hours will be credited to music instructors who complete this advanced software training. If this activity was taken outside of Teacher Development, a certificate of completion from the course instructor will be requested
- Scholastic Keys
- This course is offered through Teacher Development for .5 credits (5 hours). It is also available through Technology during the day dependent upon grant funding.
- Basic Webpage Creation for Teachers, Coaches, Coordinators, and other Staff (SchoolCenter)
