Have you heard? The Duluth, Hermantown and Proctor school districts have received a grant from the Federal Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative! What is it? It's a program designed to promote healthy childhood development and create a safe environment where all students in the community can learn, grow, and succeed. It includes violence and substance use prevention and provides education and prevention activities from pre-school through high school graduation. It's a collaboration between our school districts, St. Louis County Public Health & Human Services Department, Duluth, Hermantown, and Proctor Police Departments, St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, St. Louis County Juvenile Justice authorities, Community Mental Health and other community organizations. The initiative uses programs and services with proven track records to provide our students with safer school environments. The goals of this initiative are:

The Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant will help us reduce barriers to learning and teach our children positive social skills that will accompany them throughout their lives and enable them to make wise choices. |
