Duluth Public Schools Are A Great Choice...

Duluth Public Schools teach not only basic skills like reading, writing, and math application, but speaking, listening, critical thinking, technological literacy and personal responsibility.  Students reflect a range of social, economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds, providing the broad interpersonal experience valued by organizations and employers.

We are a quality district:

  • Three of our schools scored in the Top 1% for 2009 MCAII Reading tests.
  • Seven schools achieved scores in the top 25% for reading
  • Five schools achieved scores in the top 25% statewide for math.
  • A 2009 report shows our students scoring above state and national averages on the ACT college entrance tests for the twelfth year in a row.
  • In a 2007 professional public opinion survey, nearly 90% of parents rate the performance of our teachers and staff from good to excellent and said they would recommend our schools to their friends.
  • Three of our schools have earned the MESPA School of Excellence Award.
  • Two of our schools received a national No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon School Award for superior academic achievement from the U.S. Department of Education.
  • One of our schools received the MAEF School Spotlight Award for academic excellence.
  • Last year, our high school students earned thousands of college credits through advanced courses, and our graduates qualified for millions in scholarships.
  • One of our elementary schools had the #1 reading scores in the state in 2002.
  • Our district received an Emerging District Leader Award for service learning programs.  The award is presented by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Just a few reasons we're proud of our students, teachers, parents and staff!
